A verbal altercation escalated into violence Saturday evening in Old Pasadena, leaving one man hospitalized with a neck laceration and another arrested for attempted murder, according to police. The incident occurred around 5:19 p.m. in the 100 block of West Green Street near Fair Oaks Avenue, where officers responded to reports of a group of 10 to 15 people fighting and a man bleeding from the neck, said Pasadena Police Lieutenant Domino Scott-Jackson. Upon arrival, officers found a Hispanic man in his 40s suffering from a laceration to his neck. The victim, from the Rosemead area, was transported to a local hospital in stable condition, said Scott-Jackson. Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) said this week that former President Donald Trump’s desire to know what everyone thinks about a topic shows a type of “political genius” because he seeks to learn new perspectives. The Republican vice presidential candidate made the remarks during an interview on “The Joe Rogan Experience” that aired Thursday afternoon while talking about the selection process for being chosen to be Trump’s running mate. “[Trump] told me that he was talking to the gardener at Mar-a-Lago about who the vice presidential nominee should be,” Vance said. “And that’s one of, I think, Trump’s sort of political genius is he talks to everybody about everything.” “And I was like, well, what did the gardener at Mar-a-Lago have to say about this conversation? Because this really directly impacts my life,” he continued. “And, you know, he basically said, well, I think I’m probably going to pick you.” Vance said that he started to realize that Trump “was thinking pretty seriously about making me his VP nominee probably earlier this year because he would ask me a lot about who I thought the VP nominee should be.” “I’d give him names of people that I thought would be pretty good at it. And a lot of the names that I gave him, he would criticize,” he continued. “And I almost felt like he was inviting me to throw myself out there.” He said that the first time Trump discussed the idea of making him vice president was on the morning of July 13, the day that Trump was shot in Butler, Pennsylvania. YouTuber Jake Paul announced that he’s decided to endorse former President Donald Trump and explained that doing so is the only way to “save America.” In a nearly twenty-minute long video posted on Thursday on X, Paul laid out his message to the undecided voter why he was supporting Trump and not Vice President Kamala Harris. However, he did note that because he moved to Puerto Rico to pursue his dream of becoming a champion professional boxer, he has “rescinded his right to vote” in the 2024 election. “But that doesn’t mean I can’t present my 80 million-large audience with proper facts, numbers, and data to encourage them to vote in the proper direction to quite literally save America,” Paul said. That is taking away women’s rights.” He said if a person “really cared about women and their opportunities and their lives, I think it would be better to have a president that doesn’t want biological men competing in women’s sports,” which Trump has said he will stop when he’s in office. Paul also made it clear that when it comes to protecting women, it’s Trump and not Harris who will keep women and girls safe — by stopping the flow of illegal immigration, with some “662, 566” with “criminal histories, 13,000 convicted of homicide, and so on.”
