Report: Secret Service Didn’t Know Trump Shooter Was Armed Before He Opened Fire

A preliminary report by the House task force on the attempted assassination of Donald Trump provides new detail about the lack of coordination between the Secret Service and state and local law enforcement officers that contributed to Trump nearly being killed and the murder of rallygoer Corey Comperatore. The report, released early Monday, also asserts that a local law enforcement officer said he fired at shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks before the Secret Service countersniper fired the shot that killed him, and that this first shot may have caused Crooks to stop shooting. But House task force investigators concluded that the order of the shots remains unclear. Crooks’ autopsy shows that only one bullet entered Crooks’ head and credits the Secret Service countersniper for firing that shot, the report states. House Speaker Mike Johnson and Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries appointed the task force, headed by Republican Rep. Mike Kelly of Pennsylvania and Democratic Rep. Jason Crow of Colorado, in late July. As part of its ongoing investigation, the panel interviewed 23 state and local law enforcement witnesses, received a series of Secret Service briefings, and obtained thousands of pages of documentation in response to federal, state, and local agencies. Many of its findings are similar to those of the interim joint report by two Senate panels, which released their initial findings in late September, and a bipartisan Independent Review Board, which unveiled its findings and recommendations last week. But a section on “fragmented lines of communication and unclear lines of communication and chains of command” provides new detail about the failures that led to no law enforcement officer engaging with Crooks until he was on a rooftop only 200 yards from Trump and the crowd. It also provides more information about why the threat Crooks posed was not communicated to the innermost ring of Secret Service agents protecting the former president on the stage so they could remove the candidate from the dais before Crooks opened fire. One law enforcement officer from the Butler Emergency Services Unit stationed inside the American Glass Research, or AGR, building, first noticed Crooks at around 5 p.m., more than an hour before Trump appeared on stage. That officer testified that he was alarmed because Crooks appeared to be examining the area of the AGR building occupied by him and other snipers. “One point that raised my suspicion is he was looking directly at the window I was positioned at,” the officer told investigators. “ … He looked up at the window I was positioned at and kept looking at it.” The officer surmised that Crooks was trying to see if anyone was inside the building. The officer told another officer from the Beaver County Emergency Services Unit about Crooks, and the second officer also observed similar behavior—that Crooks was “walking pretty close to the building, kind of looking up and down the building, and [I] just thought that was odd.” In the next 40 minutes the two officers tried to track Crooks, and one went to look for him, but both officers would intermittently lose sight of the 20-year-old shooter. At one point, the Beaver County ESU officer managed to take photos of him sitting on a wall scrolling through his phone, and then at approximately 5:10 p.m. witnessed him pointing a rangefinder toward the crowd. “ … When I noticed him looking through his rangefinder he was looking towards the stage and kind of just in different areas, general areas, looking out but in the direction of the stage,” the officer told the panel. “I was like, ‘Yeah, this is not right.’” One of the Butler ESU officers went to look for Crooks from 5:15 to 5:40 p.m., and a group of officers texting the photos and descriptions of Crooks at 5:39 p.m. decided to inform its local law enforcement leaders that it had identified a young male acting suspiciously. Just one minute earlier, a Beaver ESU officer sent a text message along with photographs of Crooks to a group of local law enforcement snipers. “Kid learning [sic] around building we are in,” the officer texted. “AGR I believe it is. I did see him with a rangefinder looking towards the stage. FYI. If you wanna notify SS snipers to look out. I lost sight of him.” The officer testified to the task force that he meant “lurking” instead of “learning.” Then, over the course of 13 minutes, from 5:38 to 5:51, local law enforcement officers and their bosses sent a series of calls and messages about Crooks’ description and movements to several members of the Secret Service, including to a Secret Service agent at their command post, which was separate from a different command post for state and local law enforcement.  At 5:47, Edward Lenz, commander of the Butler ESU, received the photos of Crooks and tried to text them to a Pennsylvania State Police officer, but issues with the cellphone service delayed the transmission. The photos weren’t forwarded on to a Secret Service agent in its Command Post until 5:51 p.m.  Despite this flurry of texts and phone calls, the report found “no evidence to suggest that the information was relayed to the USSS [agents assigned to protect Trump] near the stage, or to the USSS agents in charge of rally security.” Local officers grew more alarmed at about 6:06 p.m. when they noticed Crooks beside a picnic table with a backpack on the ground. An officer testified that Crooks “grabbed the backpack, and then took off running,” then darted in between the buildings where they could no longer see him. Shortly afterward, a Butler Township police officer radioed to all officers in the area that “someone’s on the roof,” and many local officers converged on the AGR building. At 6:09 p.m., Lenz called the Pennsylvania State Police officer in the Secret Service Command Center to update him that a suspicious person was now on the roof of the AGR complex. Around that same time, a Butler Township police officer tried to climb up on the roof with a boost from another officer but was only able to push his head up above the roof line. As previously described in news accounts and prior reports, the officer then saw Crooks, who reacted by pointing a gun at him. “I see Crooks facing downrange towards the stage, but his eyes are back at me as I’m coming up,” the officer told the task force. “And I would say, like, his facial expression was surprised. His eyes were very big, like, ‘What are you doing up here?’” That was the first time any law enforcement officer realized Crooks had a firearm. The officer lost his grip, fell to the ground, and “immediately” radioed to fellow local officers that the suspicious person on the roof was armed. That message also never reached the Secret Service. Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe testified on July 30 that the agency trains its agents and officers to immediately consider an individual as a threat if the person has a firearm and is acting in a suspicious manner. “To date, the Task Force has not received any evidence to suggest that message reached the former President’s USSS detail prior to shots fired,” the report states. At 6:11 p.m., Crooks fired eight rounds before being fatally shot. He was on the roof for approximately six minutes prior to the shooting. “Put simply, the evidence obtained by the Task Force to date shows the tragic and shocking events of July 13 were preventable and should not have happened,” the task force concluded. The report listed several top findings, which include inadequate planning and coordination before the July 13 rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, and placing the AGR building and surrounding area outside of the secure perimeter that the Secret Service was charged with protecting. The report also states that the local sniper teams inside the AGR building had a narrow field of vision and were not positioned to monitor the building; there was no unified command center to facilitate communications between the Secret Service and its state and local partners; and Crooks did not use a ladder to access the top of the building, but instead climbed onto air conditioning units along the side of the building to easily scramble onto the roof. While the interim report focuses on the first assassination attempt, the task force has expanded its investigation to include a second attempt on Trump’s life, which took place at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sept. 15. The panel plans to complete its investigation by early December. WHO Chief Doubles Down on Free Speech Crackdown

If you're tired of censorship and dystopian threats against civil liberties, subscribe to Reclaim The Net. World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus used the UN agency’s Summit 2024 to launch into yet another tirade against online “misinformation/disinformation.” The WHO’s contribution against that threat, Tedros said, was countering it by “working” with a number of companies and other partners. In his speech, the WHO chief repeated the many-times heard accusations against social media as “turbo-charging” the spread of misinformation which then added to people’s skepticism toward vaccines and some other medical treatments. Tedros added to this the “stigma, discrimination, and even violence” toward health workers, but also “marginalized groups,” allegedly all a result of said disinformation. This one has also been heard many times from various politicians and affiliated media: that disinformation was “almost as deadly” as the virus (we’re talking coronavirus, not smallpox here). But still, Tedros states that disinformation regarding the pandemic, lockdowns, masks, etc. – or what he considers to be misinformation, was indeed “deadly.” Now that the problem has been presented in such a dramatic way, the “solution,” however drastic, should be an easier pill to swallow. And the solution is, basically, Big Tech and government(s) censoring free speech. Related: WHO Report Proposes Working With Social Media Providers and Law Enforcement To Control “Disinformation” Tedros speaks about the need for the WHO to be trusted, and trustworthy, but the way he proposes to go about this is baffling, as it involves calls to government and tech and social media companies “to prevent the spread of harmful lies and promote access to accurate health information.” Some of the biggest of them – and essentially all governments around the world – have been carrying censorship of this kind for years, pointing to the WHO as a reliable source and earnestly removing massive amounts of content as misinformation, even when it later turned out to be true. With that in mind, it’s difficult to understand what more Tedros would like done (and how), but it might have to do with shoring up support (by shutting up opponents) for the WHO Pandemic Treaty, which is currently being negotiated. The WHO director-general mentions “misinformation” as a factor that is undermining those negotiations, because of the claims that the end-goal of the treaty is to take decision-making during pandemics away from sovereign nations. NY Times Dismissed Kamala Plagiarism, But Demands Action on Work Stolen by Top Author

Under a week after the New York Times dismissed Kamala Harris’s book plagiarism by attacking the “seizing” investigator Christopher Rufo as possibly racist for bringing it to light, the Times has gotten tough on a writer guilty of a very similar offense. It turns out that sometimes borrowing material verbatim is objectionable to the Times -- at least when its own words are the ones being repeated. The Washington Post has the story: “John Grisham poached material for new book ‘Framed,’ media outlets say.” Prolific author John Grisham has written a nonfiction collection about wrongful convictions, and it looks likely to join his oeuvre of legal thriller novels as another bestseller. Although the rude word “plagiarism” was not used, the Post made it clear the Times was mightily offended at the under-credited use of its work. But the New York Times and ProPublica now say Grisham went too far in his use of their reporting on a murder case in Texas, and they want changes made to the book. The Times says Grisham’s book “draws comprehensively and without appropriate attribution” from “Blood Will Tell,” a two-part series written by prominent criminal justice reporter Pamela Colloff in 2018. Colloff, who works jointly for the Times and ProPublica, reported on the disputed conviction of Joe Bryan, who was found guilty of his wife’s 1985 murder despite evidence suggesting he was 120 miles away when it took place. …. In the book’s acknowledgments, Grisham mentions reporters (including Colloff) by name. But Grisham’s use of Colloff’s work goes far beyond usual professional practices, according to the Times and ProPublica, with his writing veering close to Colloff’s in dozens of instances. For example, in her 2018 series, Colloff writes of Bryan’s wife: “Her pink nightgown was drawn up to the top of her thighs, and she was naked from the waist down.” Grisham’s version is reworded only slightly, swapping the two clauses: “She was naked from the waist down and her pink nightgown was pulled up to her thighs.” …. In an interview with The Post, ProPublica Editor in Chief Stephen Engelberg said his outlet had found more than 50 examples of close similarities between Colloff’s articles and Grisham’s writing. Engelberg pointed out that Colloff’s credit in the book comes after more than 300 pages, and says she should instead be mentioned at the start of the chapter on Bryan. By contrast, the Times wrote dismissively of Rufo’s findings, which numbered “more than a dozen” instances of plagiarism major and minor, according to Rufo’s researcher Stefan Weber of Austria: The passages called into question by Mr. Rufo on his Substack platform involve about 500 words in the approximately 65,000-word, 200-page book….The New York Times found that none of the passages in question took the ideas or thoughts of another writer, which is considered the most serious form of plagiarism. Similar limits apply to Grisham’s borrowings, as flagged by the Times. But it hasn’t stopped the paper and its ProPublica partner from making a public stink about the borrowing when it’s their intellectual property being published without proper credit.

LIARS! CBS, NBC Argue Trump Said ‘Without Evidence’ Kamala Never Worked at McDonald’s

CBS Mornings and NBC’s Today went apoplectic on Monday over former President Trump’s campaign stop at a Pennsylvania McDonald’s, melting down over the “staged” event with “prescreened supporters” by the campaign (and presumably the Secret Service) and falsely arguing Trump “claim[ed] without any evidence that Vice President Harris didn’t once work at the fast food chain[.]” By doing so, the Harris lemmings ignored extensive reporting by the great Washington Free Beacon, which has spent months covering this Harris claim that has zero concrete evidence to support it, including from McDonald’s itself. CBS co-host Tony Dokoupil twice hit Trump, downplaying it as “staged” event. White House and campaign corresponded Ed O’Keefe had the network’s 2024 report and shared that Trump went “on offense last night in battleground Pennsylvania, visiting a Pittsburgh Steelers game” after “a day of campaign stops.”     This, O’Keefe explained, “included a visit to a McDonald’s, closed just for him, where he tried scoring political points after claiming without any evidence, that Vice President Harris didn’t once work at the fast food chain while in college.” He then played a clip of Trump saying “she never worked at McDonald’s,” but dutifully rebutted that as though he were a Harris surrogate: “She says she did. He leaned through the drive-through window to take reporter questions, but wouldn’t say if he supports boosting the minimum wage.” Elsewhere in his report, he fawned over Harris’s 60th birthday including a serenade from Stevie Wonder and lamented Trump stooped to “a new level of bizarre comments” with “12 minutes” Saturday “about the late golfer Arnold Palmer” and “attacked Harris with vulgar language” (the s-word). In the show’s third hour, Dokoupil revisited the “unusual, unexpected” visit by Trump to don “an apron...and...worked the fry machine for a little while.” Dokoupil quickly poo-pooed this act of retail politics: Now, you might think there's just everyday normal McDonald's customers there in line, but no, the people at the drive through, we are told, were all prescreened supporters. Meanwhile — there is a prescreened supporter right there happy to get fries from the former President. Well, it’s worth pre-screening those who interact with Trump given the reality that, along with Iran itself, two different people have nearly assassinated him this year. As for NBC, Trump correspondent Garrett Haake huffed about Trump “using profane language” Saturday and turning the next day to “a lighter tone” with a shift “working the fry cooker outside Philadelphia, passing drive-through orders to customers prescreened by the campaign.” “The former President greeting voters...but also using the backdrop to claim without evidence that Harris isn’t being truthful working about her time working at a McDonald’s while a college student,” he griped. Haake also took on the Palmer remarks, kvetching Trump’s “vulgar” comments about Palmer’s manhood “raised eyebrows” as a way to tee up Harris’s Sunday MSNBC appearance. ABC’s Good Morning America downplayed Trump at McDonald’s, likely fearing this would make Trump seem like an actual human being. Vicious Trump hater Rachel Scott only had this: “And, at a campaign photo op at McDonald’s, the former President fixated over whether Harris ever worked there[.]” Instead, Scott whined with a Super Size-d portion of hyperbole about Trump’s “closing message” not containing a “vision for the country,” but “vulgar language and profane attacks” on her beloved Vice President Kamala Harris (click “expand”): SCOTT: Donald Trump has never been a conventional candidate. He rarely sticks to a script, but his closing message in the critical battleground state of Pennsylvania is drawing attention this morning, not for what he said about his vision for the country, but because of his vulgar language and profane attacks. Over the weekend, Donald Trump barnstorming Pennsylvania for what his campaign said would be the starting closing message to voters. TRUMP: If we win Pennsylvania, we win the whole damn thing, right? SCOTT: But his rally in that must-win state took a lewd and vulgar turn. The former President opening his speech with a 12-minute diatribe about the late golf legend Arnold Palmer, who grew up in the town, and how other players reacted after seeing him in the shower. [TRUMP CLIP] SCOTT: When Trump eventually turned to his rival, used profanity to attack Vice President Kamala Harris. TRUMP: So you have to tell Kamala Harris that you’ve had enough, that you just can’t take it anymore. We can’t stand you. You’re a [EXPLETIVE] Vice President. The worst. SCOTT: Trump drifted throughout his speech. In one 30 second rift, he went from pushing false claims about the 2020 election to complaining that President Biden is no longer in the race, to talking about his hair. TRUMP: He got 14 million votes and he won, 22 people running, 22 Democrats — they’re running. Oh, I’m looking at my hair up there. Let’s see. Oh. I don’t like it. I don’t like it. Excuse me, I’m gonna recomb my hair. Do you mind? I’ll leave the stage for five minutes. I am going to recomb my hair, Mr. Future Senator. We have David down here, Mr. Future Senator. You gotta get him in. SCOTT: Despite pleas from his allies to focus on the issues, not personal attacks, Trump has only escalated his rhetoric. For the third time in just one week, repeating claims that his political opponents are the enemy from within. At one point, even suggesting they could be, “easily” handled by the military. TRUMP [on FNC’s MediaBuzz, 10/20/24]: The outside people, they might not be enemies. If you have a smart president, they can be handled SCOTT: During an interview with Fox News he was presented with facts to challenge him on his false claims about January 6. [TRUMP-KURTZ CLIP] SCOTT: Over a dozen members of the mob have faced gun charges as part of the attack. ABC had Mary Bruce — Disney’s in-house North Korean news lady for the Biden-Harris administration — cheered Harris on for “dialing everything up, doing more events, hitting more battleground states with more star power, and punching back even more at Donald Trump[.]” Bruce continued on with more fluff and touted the false claims about how Georgia woman Amber Thurman died (click “expand”): BRUCE: With just over two weeks to go, Harris shifting strategy, calling Trump out in near real time overnight responding to his recent profane attacks against her. HARRIS [on MSNBC’s PoliticsNation, 10/20/24]: It demeans the office and I have said and I’m very clear about this. Donald Trump should never again stand behind the seal of the president of the United States. He has not earned the right. BRUCE: Harris is upping her warnings about Trump, labeling him as unstable and unhinged and seizing on reports that Trump is exhausted by the rigors of campaigning. HARRIS: Have you notice he tends to go off script and ramble and generally, for the life of him, cannot finish a thought and he has called it the weave? BRUCE: She’s also increasingly using Trump’s own words against him, in campaign ads and at her rallies, especially to highlight the issue of abortion. In Georgia, Harris welcoming the family of Amber Thurman, who blamed the state’s strict abortion ban for her death and accusing Trump of creating a health care crisis across the country, calling him cruel. HARRIS: He even smirked Amber’s family for sharing their story. Play the clip. HARRIS FAULKNER [TO TRUMP]: Amber Thurman’s family have come out on a press call and they’re doing what’s called a prebuttal to our town hall right now. TRUMP: Oh, that’s nice. FAULKNER [TO TRUMP]: Yeah? And I wanna get — TRUMP: We’ll get better ratings, I promise. HARRIS: What we see continually from Donald Trump is exactly what that clip shows. He belittles their sorrow, making it about himself and his television ratings. It is cruel and listen, I promised Amber’s mother that we will always remember her story and speak her name, Amber Nicole Thurman. BRUCE: Now. Harris is also leaning into her star power, appearing this past weekend with Stevie Wonder, Usher, and Lizzo. Now, this week she’ll be on the trail for the first alongside the Obamas. Now, today, she’s hitting all three of those critical blue wall states, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin. She’ll be out with Liz Cheney. How left-wing billionaires INFECTED Christianity to suppress the religious vote

In a shocking survey by the Barna Group, it’s been revealed that 32 million church-attending Christians are planning to sit this election out and not show up at the ballot box. “There’s a really important data point in that Barna research, and it’s that it’s not just Christians that are sitting out, it is regular churchgoers, so it’s not just the people who culturally identify as Christians,” bestselling author and Daily Wire reporter Megan Basham tells Liz Wheeler of “The Liz Wheeler Show.” But why is it happening? “One, obviously, we have to acknowledge the abortion issue. I think the Republican Party’s conflicting messaging on this cycle has depressed enthusiasm a little bit,” Basham explains. “But, there’s also something else that I think is more significant going on and that is the fact that a lot of this voter suppression, lack of enthusiasm, has been deliberately orchestrated by left secular foundations and billionaires,” she continues. Basham believes “they have been working for the last few years to try to convince Christians, ‘Hey, you don’t need to vote. It’s not important that you play a part in the political process. In fact, it could be political idolatry.’” One example is a Bible study curriculum called “The Afterparty,” which was created by David French, the editor in chief of Christianity Today, and a Democrat Party Duke Divinity professor. “All three never-Trumpers, two of whom are supporting Kamala Harris openly,” Basham says. “They created this supposed political Bible study curriculum to go into conservative churches, conservative college campuses. There was an effort to get it on 185 conservative college campuses, and it teaches Christians that politics are really complex.” “‘It’s not always clear who you should vote for, and what we really need to do is turn down the rhetoric, and, in fact, we don’t know how we should vote except on the issue of alleged racial injustice,’” she says, giving an example. “It makes it pretty clear when you read the curriculum who they want you to vote for, and that curriculum is exclusively funded by hard left secular foundations, Rockefeller philanthropy advisers, and the Hewlett Foundation, which also backed Planned Parenthood and transgender initiatives for youth and things of that nature,” Basham explains, adding, “These are not Christians, and they are funding these kind of operations in order to, I would say, really suppress that Christian vote.” Want more from Liz Wheeler? To enjoy more of Liz’s based commentary, subscribe to BlazeTV — the largest multi-platform network of voices who love America, defend the Constitution, and live the American dream.

Catholic high school girls' soccer team boycotts game against school with infamous male player

A Catholic high school girls' soccer team in New Hampshire refused to play against another school with a male on its team.Bishop Brady High School in Concord took a stand against Kearsage Regional High School, which has a boy on its girls' team despite state law prohibiting such participation. The Kearsage Regional school board reportedly has voted 6-1 in favor of allowing Jacques and other boys to play on the same teams as girls.Bishop Brady girls refused to show up for the game Friday, Fox News said, citing multiple reports. The team from Kearsarge Regional High School features a male star athlete named Maelle Jacques, who plays goalkeeper. The boy is already well known for making headlines after winning a state championship in the girls' high jump in February.Jacques is reportedly 6'1" tall and has sparked outrage with at least one other team in the region. The Hillsboro-Deering High School soccer team refused to play against Kearsage just three weeks prior — perhaps signaling a trend that young women in the state will not stand for unfairness.Despite the New Hampshire state law, a federal judge appointed by former President Barack Obama granted an injunction Sept. 10 allowing two male athletes to continue playing with female athletes — and even to change in the same locker room as female athletes — until a final ruling has been made. Judge Landya McCafferty was appointed in 2013.The other athlete in question, Parker Tirrell, plays for Plymouth Regional High School.Plymouth was the center of controversy when parents of students at Bow High School decided to show their support for female athletes by wearing wristbands with "XX" on them when their school played against a team with the boy.School officials reportedly stopped the game, demanded parents take off the wristbands, and had police issue "no trespass" orders against parents."My daughter's playing in the homecoming game this weekend, and I'm banned," a parent said at the time. "I can't watch her play in homecoming — which is ridiculous," the father added. The Kearsage Regional school board reportedly has voted 6-1 in favor of allowing Jacques and other boys to play on the same teams as girls.Fed upWomen across the country have become fed up with playing against males in their sports, with five different women's volleyball teams in the NCAA forfeiting matches against San Jose State University, which has a male athlete on the women's team."The vast majority of us decided that this isn't right, [that] we need to protect women's sports, and we're going to forfeit," Nevada's team captain Sia LiiLii told Blaze News.At the same time, a group of former athletes and legal activists attended a United Nations General Assembly event and urged the international body to take a stand on behalf of women.Attorney Kristen Waggoner and Reem Alsalem, the U.N. special rapporteur on violence against women and girls, called for the international sports community to keep men out of women's sports.Like Blaze News? Lizzo embraces Trump's warning that Kamala Harris will leave country looking like Detroit

Lizzo elicited criticism over the weekend for embracing President Donald Trump's warning that Kamala Harris would leave the whole country looking like Detroit — and suggesting that such an outcome would be optimal. The rapper, whose real name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson, informed her supporters prior to taking a private jet to stump for the Green New Deal advocate, "This is how a bad b**** saves democracy." Jefferson, who now lives nearly 2,000 miles away in a $15 million California mansion, later told a crowd of Democrats in Detroit, where the median listing price for a home is $95,000, "I'm so proud to be from this city. You know, they say if Kamala wins, then the whole country will be like Detroit. OK." The Democratic crowd cheered at the prospect that Harris might transform the rest of the country to resemble a crime-ridden city that filed for bankruptcy in 2013. Detroit, a city that has seen its population shrink from over 1.8 million in the 1950s to just over 633,000 last year, scores a 1 on Neighborhood Scout's crime index, where 100 is safest. The chances of falling prey to a violent crime in the city are 1 in 49. The chances of becoming a victim of a property crime are 1 in 22. According to official city figures, there were 252 homicides, 804 nonfatal shootings, 10,427 aggravated assaults, 669 rapes, 167 carjackings, 9,421 reported motor vehicle thefts, 4,821 burglaries, 15,681 larceny offenses, and 1,392 robberies in the city last year. WalletHub once again ranked Detroit — where the unemployment rate is over twice the national average at 8.8% — as the neediest of 182 cities in the country. The median household income in the city last year was less than half of the national figure of $80,610. Jefferson continued, saying, "Proud like Detroit. Resilient like Detroit. We're talking about the same Detroit that innovated the auto industry and the music industry. So put some respect on Detroit's name, okay?" 'They actually want Trump to win.' Jefferson was referring to President Donald Trump's Oct. 10 speech at the Detroit Economic Club, where he said, "Our whole country will end up like Detroit if she's your president. You're going to have a mess on your hands. She destroyed San Francisco. She destroyed, along with Newscum, California, and we're not going to let her do that to this country. We're not going to let it happen." The Harris campaign and liberal media were keen at the time to ignore the context of Trump's remarks, namely that he was criticizing the hollowing out of America's manufacturing base. Trump went onto say, "I am telling you right now, standing here in the center of this once-great city, that by the end of my term, the entire world will be talking about the Michigan miracle and the stunning rebirth of Detroit." Victoria LaCivita, Trump's Michigan communications director, clarified in a statement obtained by CNN that Trump was highlighting how the city has "suffered from globalist policies championed by Kamala Harris that have shipped manufacturing overseas." "As President Trump emphasized in his speech, his policies will usher in a new era of economic success and stability for Detroit, helping the city reach its fullest potential," added LaCivita. Critics seized upon Jefferson's remarks, sharing images of abandoned houses in Detroit, staggering statistics about the city's crime, and damning figures regarding the education system. BlazeTV's Pat Gray said, "Are you serious? What a stupid thing to say. I mean, even if you're proud of your town, you know the rest of the country thinks it's a hellhole, right?" Conservative commentor Trish Regan noted, "#Lizzo says US 'becoming Detroit' is a good thing. *30% of Detroit lives BELOW poverty line. *Detroit=DOUBLE DIGIT unemployment. *Detroit=one of the highest crime rates in the country. America cannot be #Detroit. USA wants more than ⁦@lizzo ⁩ & Kamala can ever imagine." David Scott, the musician known as the Kiffness, responded, "I'm from South Africa, (one of the highest crime rates in the world) & I've never been robbed on tour. I was in Detroit last year & our tour van was robbed TWICE in one night." Comedian David Angelo shared the video with the caption, "My theory has been that Democrats know everything is about to collapse and they actually want Trump to win." Like Blaze News?
