Actress Gina Carano celebrated on Thursday after Disney lost an effort to delay discovery in her wrongful termination lawsuit while appealing a previous decision to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Earlier this week, U.S. District Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett denied Disney’s request for a stay of proceedings and interlocutory appeal, Deadline reported. In a post on X, Carano — who filed a lawsuit against Disney and Lucasfilm three years after she was fired from the “Star Wars” spinoff series “The Mandalorian” — said that she was pleased her case against them could move forward after Disney’s appeal to delay the trial was denied.  The star of the DailyWire+ film “Terror on the Prairie” filed a lawsuit against the entertainment giant after it cut ties with her over what it deemed “offensive” social media posts. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and other Democrats continue to push false stories in order to claim the overturning of Roe v. Wade was a disaster. It’s an estimation that is arrived at by using multiple assumptions. The left-wing Center for American Progress (CAP) article Warren references in her tweet makes this clear, even though its headline declares: “Trump Proclaims ‘I Killed Roe v. Wade’ as 134 Rape-Induced Pregnancies Occur Daily in Abortion Ban States.” The way they reach the absurd notion that 134 women are becoming pregnant through rape every day in states that have banned abortion is to take the number of reported rapes in those states and then find about 12% of the final number. The percentage was drawn from a separate study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that also estimated the lifetime risk of pregnancy amongst rape survivors to be 14.9%, but the study cited by CAP generously adjusted the number downward “to account for the difference between annual and lifetime rape-related pregnancy.” They then divided the number by the number of months since the abortion laws took effect and then divided again by the number of days in the months. They added these numbers up for each state to arrive at 134 rape pregnancies a day. MATT WALSH’S ‘AM I RACIST?’ COMING TO DAILYWIRE+ OCT. 28 Even then, by CAP’s own admission, the number is too high since five of the 14 states included in the estimation include exceptions for rape. Those states were still included because fewer than 10 abortions have been performed in the state, so by CAP’s logic, this means it’s okay to add them to estimated rape figures. If those five states weren’t included, the daily number would be 115, but that’s still misleading. The study cited by CAP estimated there were “519,981 survivors of completed rape” in the 4 to 18 months that abortion bans were in place in each of the 14 states. That study – which was published in JAMA Internal Medicine by leftist researchers at Planned Parenthood, Resound Research for Reproductive Health, two colleges, and a Massachusetts health care network – estimated that of those 519,981 reported rapes, 64,565 women became pregnant, or about 12%. CNN and other outlets reported this misleading statistic in January. The notion of using reported rapes is also misleading since women face little to no consequences for falsely reporting rape, and just because something is reported doesn’t mean it has been proven true. The study’s lead author, Dr. Samuel Dickman of Planned Parenthood, also told CAP: “According to the CDC data we used, the estimated lifetime risk of pregnancy among survivors of rape is 14.9%. Our analysis conservatively adjusted the figure for survivors of rape downward to account for the difference between annual and lifetime rape-related pregnancy rates.” “The CDC data on rape incidence, on which we based our estimates, quantified the number of persons who reported rape over a 12-month period, which may involve multiple incidents during that time, e.g., in cases of rape by an intimate partner or family member, which represent the majority of rape incidents,” Dickman added, according to CAP. Dickman said the study used “an annual risk of rape-related pregnancy of 12.4% among rape survivors” instead of the CDC’s 14.9% to arrive at its estimations. So, no, 134 women are not becoming pregnant every day due to rape, it’s all based on hypothetical fearmongering.

Nick Searcy fondly recalls the Reagan years and even worked on a documentary detailing the 40th president’s bond with the Soviet Union’s Mikhail Gorbachev. He still learned plenty by co-starring in “Reagan,” the late summer biopic of the conservative icon. Dennis Quaid brings The Gipper to life in “Reagan,” now available for purchase at Amazon, iTunes and more platforms. The sweeping biopic starts with Ronald Reagan’s early days and goes through his consequential White House years. Searcy plays James Baker in the film, Reagan’s Chief of Staff and, later, his Treasury Secretary. Searcy learned why Reagan chose Baker in the first place. Baker had opposed Reagan in the 1980 presidential campaign, aligning with his future vice president, George H. W. Bush. “Reagan saw him as being such a good negotiator and diplomat,” Searcy says, noting his differences with his on-screen character. “I’m a bit more of an ideologue than he was,” he adds with a chuckle. The actor didn’t know as much about Reagan’s life before becoming the country’s 40th president. “Reagan” fills in those blanks, from his transition from Hollywood to politics to his days as president of the Screen Actors Guild. The leader’s political ascent is the film’s focus, but “Reagan” is as much a love story as a look at one of the country’s most formidable politicians (Consider the term “Reagan Democrats” as just one example of his impact). Penelope Ann Miller stands by Quaid’s side as Nancy Reagan, part of a Beltway power couple that changed the course of history. You might not grasp Reagan’s role in the Cold War’s demise and “Morning in America” if you followed the Hollywood narrative, the actor maintains. Searcy says the industry’s take on Reagan has been “mostly negative,” including a controversial 2003 Showtime miniseries blasted by the president’s defenders for several key scenes. One sequence causes sizable outcry – James Brolin’s Reagan says of gay AIDS sufferers, “They that live in sin shall die in sin.” Reagan never uttered such a dehumanizing phrase. “Reagan,” Searcy says, “corrects the image of Reagan that the Hollywood Left was perpetrating,” that of a “doddering old fool who wanted nuclear war.” The actor adds another reason why the film’s 2024 release matters. MAGA nation may not understand how much the Left loathed President Reagan long before a certain real estate mogul joined the political fray in 2015. “Everyone seems to think Trump is some unique person who deserves to be hated,” he says. Searcy is one of a handful of openly conservative actors, and he’s maintained a steady career despite the industry’s aversion to Right-leaning talent. He’s recently been joined by both Quaid and “Shazam!” star Zachary Levi. Both endorsed Trump in recent weeks, with Levi admitting the decision could be “career suicide.” Searcy thinks he knows why they’re speaking out now. “People see the situation a little more clearly now and what’s at stake … what good is it if you hang onto your career but you lose your country,” he says. He posits another reason for mainstream stars to pick a side. “Hollywood is losing its position as the center of the entertainment universe,” he says, noting how many productions have fled for Canada and tax-friendly states with lower costs of living. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the actor’s concerns: Shooting days slipped 5 percent over a three-month period from July to September to 5,048, marking the weakest quarter of 2024, and every category of scripted production lags behind five-year averages on both a per-quarter and year-to-date basis. That’s not the only change allowing Right-leaning stars to speak their minds. He also signed a deal with a Nashville-based company to direct and co-write a passion project about a gospel quartet in the 1960s. “There is a certain gratification in following your heart and doing what you believe in and letting the chips fall where they may,” he says. Ironically, Hollywood did have plans for a different “Reagan” biopic in recent years, but it was nothing like what Searcy and Quaid delivered with their movie. The 2016 project, hatched from a Blacklist screenplay, cast Will Ferrell as a dementia-addled leader in a satirical comedy. The Democratic National Committee is targeting young voters via social media by introducing a Taylor Swift-themed Snapchat filter promoting their candidate, Vice President Kamala Harris. The new filter allows app users to promote themselves as supporting Harris for president via graphics that say “fearless for,” as a reference to the singer’s 2008 album. Options include “reproductive rights,” “democracy,” “climate action,” and “student loan debt relief.” The header says, “In My Voting Era.” Swift is back on tour this weekend after a brief hiatus from her massively popular Eras Tour. The tour, which began in March 2023, will conclude in Canada at the end of the year. The Harris campaign also erected Swift-themed billboards in the Miami area despite Florida not being considered a swing state for this year’s election. There will also be a mobile billboard on a boat near the stadium, per Variety. The ads are also catered to Swifties, with slogans including, “We’re in our Kamala Era.” The Snapchat filter will only be available in Florida and seven crucial swing states: Arizona, Nevada, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and North Carolina, according to Gizmodo. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate [Tim Walz], who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades,” she shared with her 283 million followers on Instagram at the time. “I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice,” Swift added. “Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make.”

Former President Donald Trump has vowed to eliminate all sanctuary cities in the United States if he secures another term in office. During a Fox News town hall on October 15, 2024, Trump declared that his administration would tackle sanctuary cities “immediately,” utilizing the Aliens Act of 1798 to enforce federal immigration laws. These cities, which often limit cooperation with federal immigration authorities, are seen by Trump as "protecting criminals" rather than upholding the rule of law. Trump’s comments came in response to a question from a Georgia voter concerned about the murder of Laken Riley, a young nursing student who was allegedly killed by an illegal immigrant. The former president stressed that sanctuary cities represent a danger to public safety and vowed to use executive action to remove these protections as quickly as possible​.
