Mystery Beneath the Moon as Strange Shifting Layer Defies Explanation

A recent study by NASA and the University of Arizona has revealed a surprising discovery about the Moon’s interior. Researchers found a layer of low-viscosity “goo” between the Moon’s rocky mantle and its metal core. This goo moves up and down beneath the surface, similar to ocean tides on Earth. They believe this movement is driven by the gravitational forces of the Earth and the Sun, reports futurism.com. “Just like the Moon raises tides on the Earth, the Earth (and Sun) raise tides on the Moon,” the study explains. Published in AGU Advances, the research provides the “first measurement of the Moon’s yearly gravity changes due to tides.” This discovery supports long-standing theories about the Moon’s composition, but it also raises new questions. How did this magma-like layer form? What exactly is it made of? And most importantly, what keeps it hot enough to stay soft and mobile? The researchers analyzed data from NASA’s Gravity Recovery and Interior Laboratory (GRAIL) and Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter missions. These missions gathered gravitational data and mapped the Moon’s surface, allowing scientists to measure tidal movements for the first time on both a monthly and yearly basis. Their findings point to a “partial melt” layer beneath the Moon’s rocky mantle, which is made of magnesium-iron silicate minerals and pyroxene. “Only models with a softer layer at the bottom of the mantle match all our measurements,” the researchers noted. But this raises a key question: what keeps this semi-molten layer warm and pliable? As the study points out, “such a soft layer, often thought to be partial melt, needs to be maintained.” There must be a reason why this layer stays warm enough to move. There are still many unknowns about the Moon’s interior, but this research marks an important step forward. It opens the door to future discoveries in lunar geology. As the study concludes, “The existence of this zone has profound implications for the Moon’s thermal state and evolution.” The post Mystery Beneath the Moon as Strange Shifting Layer Defies Explanation appeared first on Anomalien.com.

'Our house is quiet as a tomb': Drunk driver who killed 'pure' 13-year-old girl in cocaine-fueled crash learns fate

A grieving Massachusetts family is attempting to put the pieces together after a drunk driver killed a "sunny" 13-year-old girl in a cocaine-fueled crash. Gregory Goodsell, 36, attended his company's Christmas party in December 2019. Goodsell was so intoxicated that his co-workers said they tried to prevent him from driving, but he ignored them, the Boston Herald previously reported. 'After Claire died, I didn't want to live.'Goodsell allegedly attended an after-party at a home before getting behind the wheel of his company truck. Police said Goodsell struck a tree while driving the white Ford F-250 truck, which broke his passenger-side headlight around 6:40 a.m. Dec. 29. Goodsell reportedly ran a red light and smashed into a Subaru while he was drunk and high on cocaine in Pembroke."Through evidence and witness interviews, investigators determined that Goodsell was intoxicated with a BAC of 0.266, under the influence of cocaine, and passed through a red light at 67 miles per hour before broadsiding the Subaru," the office of Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz stated. At the time of the crash, police found a bottle of whiskey, a beer can, two nip bottles, marijuana, and a pipe in Goodsell's vehicle. “I’m so [expletive] up. … I know I shouldn’t have been driving. … I can’t believe I did this. … I drank way too much, I’m so sorry,” Goodsell reportedly told police officers at the scene of the fatal crash.Investigators determined that the Subaru broadsided by Goodsell contained 51-year-old driver Elizabeth Zisserson; her daughter, 13-year-old Claire Zisserson; and Claire’s 13-year-old friend Kendall Zemotel.Claire was killed in the crash. Her mother and friend suffered what the DA's office described as “catastrophic injuries.”Claire's friend Kendall recalled standing “speechless” while looking at herself in the mirror for the first time at the hospital and seeing a large scar on her right cheek, under her eye, with a feeding tube coming out of her nose.“Emotionally, I think about something that I know I shouldn’t, but I really can’t help myself — what I could have done to prevent this from happening to us,” Kendall wrote in an impact statement that was read by a prosecutor in the courtroom. “I could have just gone to the bathroom before we left the house that day or taken a little longer to get ready. … I could have saved Claire’s life if I was a minute late to everything I did that morning.”Kendall added, “Claire was my best friend, the sister I never had, and my twin. Claire was always there for me before I even realized I needed someone. It is so extremely hard to process that Claire is gone. She deserved so, so, so much more out of life.”Claire's mother said that her emotional scars will never heal. "After Claire died, I didn't want to live," Zisserson said in court as she wiped away tears. "The ache of Claire's loss is overwhelming to me.""My world changed the day that Claire was killed. I don't recognize the person I am today, versus the one I used to be," the heartbroken mother explained. "I was a super-busy mom juggling sports, Scouts, carpools, school projects, away games, and everything else in daily life."“Life was happy and busy and crazy, and we talked about the future with hope and excitement, but now I function in survival mode ruled by loss, fear, and grief," Zisserson added. "The car crash destroyed my life and caused a ripple effect of damage that can never be undone.”"Our table of four is now three. Our house is quiet as a tomb," she expressed. "The colors of our world are dull."'Nobody should ever have to attempt to live through the pain that I’ve caused to all these people through my careless, destructive behavior.'Claire's father, Ken Zisserson, added, "One day Claire was here, and the next, she was gone forever.""When someone says, 'I can't even imagine,' I reply, 'You shouldn't have to. It's not natural,'" he noted. Claire was described as “pure” and “sunny” by those who knew her best, according to the Patriot Ledger. Late last month, a jury convicted Goodsell of second-degree murder, motor vehicle manslaughter while operating under the influence, leaving the scene of property damage, and two counts of operating under the influence causing serious bodily injury. Before sentencing, the anguished mother asked the judge, "Please help me keep him from ever doing this again. He can watch the sunrise every day, but Claire won't ever see another sunrise. And we won't ever escape the devastation of losing Claire."Judge Diane Freniere sentenced Goodsell to life in prison for the murder charge and eight years in prison for seriously injuring Kendall, which will run concurrently with a six-year sentence for injuring Elizabeth Zisserson. Goodsell also will serve 12 years for manslaughter concurrently with the murder sentence.Goodsell will be eligible for parole after serving 20 years.“Judicial discretion does not commit to the court to assign a value to a victim’s life because every human life is incalculable,” the judge told Goodsell. “I have considered the life of an innocent, remarkable bright light, Claire Zisserson, a 13-year-old girl beloved by her family, and a compassionate and kind friend who was taken because of your criminal conduct.”Goodsell said during sentencing, “I shamefully take responsibility for what happened.”“Nobody should ever have to attempt to live through the pain that I’ve caused to all these people through my careless, destructive behavior,” Goodsell read from a prepared statement. “If I could go back to that day and die, instead of Claire, I would in a heartbeat.”“The constant nightmares, never being able to sleep because of what I did that morning, that is something that I will carry with me for the remainder of my life,” he continued. “Sorry is an understatement. I sincerely apologize from the bottom of my heart.”Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!

Kamala’s poll numbers plunge in Georgia but what about North Carolina?

According to a recent Quinnipiac University Poll, Kamala Harris’ numbers are plunging to Biden levels in the critical swing state of Georgia. Blaze Media Washington correspondent Christopher Bedford joins “Blaze News Tonight’s” Jill Savage to shed light on the situation. - YouTube www.youtube.com “How significant is this latest data?” asks Jill. “What stands out to me most about this data is how it puts Kamala Harris basically exactly where Joe Biden was when Democrats had their complete panic,” says Bedford, adding that the media’s ploy to paint JD Vance as “weird,” Kamala as “cool,” and Walz as “America’s dad” has “since come crashing down.” And Georgia’s poll numbers are proof. Blaze Media’s editor in chief Matthew Peterson also wonders about the other critical swing state of North Carolina, where Hurricane Helene has ravaged the coastline and left untold numbers of Americans homeless. “Do you think Trump has a chance there?” he asks. “You have illegal immigrants getting $750 a day in New York to be able to stay in hotel rooms, but there's potentially offered a $750 total stipend to help people get baby formula, to help people get groceries, to help people get water,” says Bedford, referring to the displaced Helene victims FEMA has all but neglected. “That's the sort of thing that's really going to impact the federal government,” he adds. The storm, overall, according to Bedford, is just “more bad news for the Democrats.” “Is it fair to say that the joy of Kamala Harris is gone?” Peterson asks. “The vibes are starting to struggle,” says Bedford. Axelrod: 'Upscale,' 'liberal' NC citizens hit by Helene will 'figure out a way to vote.' Trump-backers in area? Not so much.

Former Obama chief strategist David Axelrod predicted that "upscale," "liberal" North Carolina residents hit hard by Hurricane Helene are "probably going to figure out a way to vote" in the presidential election next month — but suggested that those in the same area who would cast ballots for former President Donald Trump likely won't be as resourceful.Axelrod — a dyed-in-the-wool leftist — made the eye-popping declaration last week on an episode of his "Hacks on Tap" podcast when speaking about swing states like North Carolina and the devastation Helene left behind.'I’m not sure a bunch of these folks who’ve had their homes and lives destroyed elsewhere in Western North Carolina — in the mountains there — are gonna be as easy to wrangle for the Trump campaign.'He called the city of Asheville a "blue dot" in Western North Carolina and said that despite the large-scale displacement in the surrounding area due to Helene, voters in Asheville have the smarts to get their votes in for Democrat presidential nominee Kamala Harris."Those voters in Asheville are — they’re, you know, the kind of voters who will figure out a way to vote," Axelrod said. "You know, they’re upscale, kind of liberal voters, and they’re probably going to figure out a way to vote."But as for Trump-backers in the area hit hard by Helene? Not so much, apparently."I’m not sure a bunch of these folks who’ve had their homes and lives destroyed elsewhere in western North Carolina — in the mountains there — are gonna be as easy to wrangle for the Trump campaign," Axelrod said.He added, "I don’t know how that’s all going to play out, but it’s an unpredictable element in North Carolina that has made it maybe a little more interesting" in the run-up to the election.Axelrod also said that "northern-tier battleground states other than Wisconsin are scary" for Democrats and that "you can't count on them." He added that Harris "needs to find an insurance policy" and a "second act" as the campaign races to the finish line. How are observers reacting to Axelrod's words?Fox News pointed out some prominent X users who took issue with Axelrod’s statements:OutKick.com founder Clay Travis wrote, "On his podcast @davidaxelrod says Democrat voters in Asheville, North Carolina are smarter, wealthier and will still show up to vote for Kamala while he thinks Trump voters won’t. This is why Kamala and Biden aren’t helping, they benefit from the disaster."Mollie Hemingway, editor-in-chief of the Federalist, added, "I fear that Axelrod's point is why Harris and Biden are letting these people drown."Fox News contributor Tammy Bruce wondered, "Did ya know that famous Democrat operative David Axelrod figures city Democrats are smarter and more resourceful and will figure out how to vote whereas the dumb Trump deplorables up in the mountains of NC who just lost everything, won't. Was he on the verge of a Kamala cackle?"Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!

Fox News anchor confronts Walz with questions the media refuses to ask — and it doesn't end well for the Democrat VP nominee

Fox News anchor Shannon Bream steamrolled Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz on Sunday, confronting him with questions the legacy media refuses to ask. In his first solo interview since becoming the Democratic Party's VP nominee, Walz played defense as Bream forced him to answer questions on important election issues ranging from the economy to abortion, immigration, and even Walz's history of falsehoods. 'You modified your story or explained you misspoke about things involving a military rank, about carrying a weapon in war, your 1995 DUI arrest, using IVF to have your children, being in Hong Kong and China in the summer of 1989 during the Tiananmen events.' And, importantly, whereas last week's vice presidential debate did not include fact-checks, Bream was forced to correct Walz repeatedly. Abortion At first, Bream explained that Walz signed a law in Minnesota that removes all restrictions on abortion, asking Walz if he believes Democrats should adopt the same radical policy nationwide. "The vice president and I have been clear the restoration of Roe v. Wade is what we're asking for," Walz responded. "But that law goes far beyond Roe v. Wade," Bream fact-checked. "Let's agree, in what you signed there's not a single limit through nine months of pregnancy. Roe had a trimester framework that did have limits through the pregnancy. The Minnesota law does not have that." Walz never answered Bream's question. Instead, he repeatedly said that he supports putting the abortion "decision" back in the hands of women and doctors. But of course, Roe didn't unilaterally empower women to get any and every abortion they wanted, as Bream pointed out. Next, Walz claimed that Donald Trump wants a nationwide abortion ban, forcing Bream to fact-check again. "[Trump] has said repeatedly that he will not sign a national abortion ban," Bream interjected. "Are you calling that — it's just a flat-out lie?" "Yes, of course," Walz responded. — (@) Finally, Walz tried to use the tragic death of Amber Thurman, who apparently died as a result of complications from an abortion pill, for political purposes to promote his pro-abortion agenda. But once again, Bream immediately fact-checked Walz. She explained: To be clear, the Minnesota law is far beyond Roe v. Wade. And about the Amber Thurman case in Georgia: Her family has — and it's tragic, she is a young mother who left behind a young son — but what her family has said is it was a complication from an abortion pill that she received, and she didn't get proper care when she went to a Georgia hospital, which had multiple opportunities to intervene there. Her own attorney, the family's attorney, says it wasn't the Georgia law, it was the hospitals. What he claims is malpractice, not treating her when she clearly showed up in distress and still had the byproducts of her pregnancy because of that rare complication from the abortion pill. So just to be clear on the Georgia law and how her family and her attorney sees it. Later in the interview, Bream asked Walz about the law he signed last year no longer requiring doctors to provide life-saving measures for babies born after botched abortions. In response, Walz obfuscated by claiming of the law, "All it did was align with existing law," which isn't true. He then added that "every doctor has an ethical responsibility to provide what they can in each situation," a vague claim that ignores the fact that the law he signed removed a provision from exiting state law that required doctors to preserve the life of infants born after botched abortions. The economy Turning to the economy, Bream asked Walz how Vice President Kamala Harris can convince voters to trust her on the economy when polls already show that voters trust Trump. "We saw a blockbuster job report this week. We saw interest rates come down, and we've also seen that Vice President Harris laying out a middle-class agenda," Walz responded. The problem, of course, is that monthly job reports have, for the last year, been revised lower than what the initial report showed. Moreover, the Federal Reserve lowered interest rates because of building economic pressures that resulted from having high interest rates for several years. The Minnesota governor then repeated numerous falsehoods. Walz claimed more people were unemployed under Trump "percentage-wise" than during the Great Depression. This is not true. Presumably, Walz was referring to the massive unemployment spike in 2020 when states shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That, however, was not Trump's fault. Importantly, the unemployment rate had significantly recovered by the time President Joe Biden entered office, and the vast majority of those jobs were not net losses but temporary cuts. Walz, moreover, repeated the claim about price-gouging and corporate profits — which isn't true — and claimed that Trump wants to enact a 20% sales tax on Americans. That last claim earned Walz yet another fact-check. "Just to note: That is a tariff, which, by the way, this administration not only kept most of the Trump tariffs, but they added their own as well," Bream explained. Immigration Moving on, Bream confronted Walz over the fact that, under his leadership, Minnesota gives illegal immigrants driver's licenses and offers them free college tuition and free health care. "Are those not magnets to draw people here, many times on dangerous journeys for themselves? And why should your taxpayers in Minnesota or across the states pay for those programs?" Bream asked. "Well, that's not the vice president's position," Walz responded, suggesting Harris agrees with Minnesota's policies. Next, Walz claimed that Harris' border policies are the "most strongest, the fairest" America has ever seen — an assertion that Bream refused to bypass. "Now, Governor, you know a lot of people, including your own party, would not join that statement," Bream fact-checked. "There are millions of people who have come here over the last few years that, you know, they see this as an open border." History of falsehoods At the end of the interview, Bream finally confronted Walz on the litany of falsehoods that he has told about his life, which he has previously excused by claiming that he was misspeaking or being a "knucklehead." "You modified your story or explained you misspoke about things involving a military rank, about carrying a weapon in war, your 1995 DUI arrest, using IVF to have your children, being in Hong Kong and China in the summer of 1989 during the Tiananmen events," Bream pointed out. Instead of answering Bream's question of how Americans can trust him in light of his record, Walz attacked Trump and claimed he will take responsibility for mistakes. "I will own up when I misspeak. I will own it when I make a mistake," Walz said. The Minnesota governor, however, did not own up to or take accountability for the falsehoods that Bream asked him about. Like Blaze News? 'Hello, hello': Elon Musk waves the Terrible Towel at Steelers game to hype up crowd following Butler rally

Tesla CEO Elon Musk endured a lengthy rain delay to support the Pittsburgh Steelers at home versus the Dallas Cowboys.Musk hosted a Spaces event on his X platform from Acrisure Stadium while at the game, turning the camera around on himself to say "hello, hello," to his nearly 4.5 million viewers.Another video, posted by Musk's America PAC, showed him hyping up the Pittsburgh crowd by waving the team's signature merchandise, the Terrible Towel. The likely exhausted fans cheered and waved their towels in response to Musk a couple times in the footage.Musk was obviously a popular figure at the game but took time to speak with former Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch about his charitable endeavors. Batch has provided 3,800 children in west Pennsylvania with educational and athletic programming. The entrepreneur has been providing his own charitable aid to victims of Hurricane Helene recently and even accused FEMA of blocking some of the supplies, the Daily Mail reported.'I am not just MAGA — I am Dark MAGA.'In the end, Steelers fans endured about 90 minutes of delays before watching their team lose 20-17 to the Cowboys; the game did not end until almost 1 a.m. Eastern Time.Viewers responded to Musk's attendance by calling the game's atmosphere "electric," while other attendees posted photos of Musk inside the stadium. The X owner was seen wearing a black, Make America Great Again hat, the same cap he wore at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, the day before. Musk appeared with Donald Trump at the rally on Saturday in front of approximately 30,000 people, marking a triumphant return to the same location where the former president was nearly assassinated."As you can see I am not just MAGA — I am Dark MAGA," Musk said, referring to his hat.Musk remarked that 2024 "will be the last election" if Trump doesn't win, stating that both the Constitution and democracy are on the ballot."If you're seeing this, I have one ask of you," Musk added, before repeatedly urging the audience and viewers to register to vote."I'm being repetitive at this point because it is the one takeaway, more than anything, that will matter; getting those registrations and then getting everyone you know to actually vote."The same day, the America PAC announced that it would be adding cash incentives for referrals on their petitions."Sign our petition to support the Constitution! Also earn $47 for every person you refer to sign the petition if they're in a swing state," Musk wrote. "Goal is to get 1M voters in swing states to show support for free speech & right to bear arms."Like Blaze News?
