Senator Susan Collins, a Maine Republican, laid out the reason behind her conviction vote for former President Donald Trump on Saturday, saying he created a “dangerous situation” and put his “selfish interests” ahead of the interests of the country. Seven Republicans voted “guilty” alongside 50 members of the Democratic Caucus in an unsuccessful bid to convict Trump on the House impeachment charge of inciting the January 6 insurrection against the U.S. Capitol. Collins, along with 11 other senators, was serving as a presidential impeachment trial juror for a third time—having been a member of the Senate during the trial of former President Bill Clinton in 1999 and for Trump’s first trial in 2020. In both those previous cases, Collins voted to acquit. “That attack was not a spontaneous outbreak of violence. Rather, it was the culmination of a steady stream of provocations by President Trump that were aimed at overturning the results of the presidential election,” the Maine Republican said. Collins went on to emphasize the ways that Trump worked to undermine the election results and rile up his followers to “fight” against the reality of President Joe Biden’s win. In fact, she flat out said that President Trump is “antithetical to the values of the Republican Party” in 2016, when she had CONCERNS about Hillary Clinton, but absolutely refused to vote for President Trump. I might point out that I agree — President Trump IS antithetical to many of the values espoused by the old guard of the Republican Party and what it has become!  THAT IS WHY HE WON! Now, Senator Collins will control one of the most powerful committees in Congress, largely responsible for designating how tax dollars are allocated. As we previously reported, Mitch McConnell (surprise, surprise — another hold out against Matt Gaetz’ Attorney General appointment), will be moving into the chairmanship of the Defense spending subcommittee under the overall appropriations committee, now chaired by Collins. Republican Senators Just Gifted Mitch McConnell Power To Thwart President Trump’s Agenda in the Senate The appropriations committee that Collins will now chair holds jurisdiction over all discretionary spending for the U.S. federal government, according to a report in local Maine CBS affiliate WABI. Mitch McConnell announced earlier this week that he will be relinquishing the role for another position, making her one of the most powerful lawmakers in Congress. The committee holds jurisdiction over all discretionary spending for the federal government, a role that positions Collins to influence funding for key initiatives nationwide and in Maine. Although the new leadership of the Appropriations Committee won’t officially take effect until next year, Senator Susan Collins has already signaled her intention to assume the role. According to Collins, even though Nikki Haley had previously dropped out of the presidential race, she STILL intended on writing in a vote for Haley instead of voting for President Trump! Here are more details on that from a Fox News report. Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, reiterated to reporters that she still supports former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley for president despite Haley no longer being in the race for the Republican nomination. The Maine Republican will write in Haley's name on her ballot in November rather than former President Trump or President Biden, according to local CBS reporter Dan Lampariello. Collins' office confirmed to Fox News Digital her plan to vote for Haley. "I cannot support former President Trump. I voted to convict him on the second impeachment charges, so I don't think it should come as a surprise that I cannot support him," she said in March, weeks after Haley had already suspended her campaign. As Collins pointed out in the spring, she was one of seven Republican senators in 2021 who voted to convict Trump for allegedly inciting insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021, when some of his supporters rioted at the U.S. Capitol. There is every indication that the Senate Trump-haters are busy digging in, setting up minefields, and firming up their positions with the intention of opposing President Trump's agenda from their Congressional strongholds -- long before he steps foot into the Oval Office once again. With McConnell chairing powerful committees in control of defense spending and the Senate rules, Thune firmly in the pocket of the anti-Trump GOP taking the helm of Senate Majority Leader, and Senator Collins stepping into the all-important Appropriations Committee leadership position, the battle lines are becoming clear. Unfortunately, many of our worst fears are taking shape, even though the election proved what many of us have been saying all along -- the democrats overplayed their hand, and people are waking up to the deceit and delusions of the last few years. But just as predicted, the RINOs and anti-Trump Republicans are not going to simply go away.  They are digging in for a fight. But I wonder if they are underestimating just how serious President Trump and his team is about setting this country right.

What is more, Kulpa is claiming that a large amount of the corruption took the form of kickbacks, with sizeable amounts being siphoned back to American democratic officials. The former Polish official reportedly made the claims on Thursday while speaking to Luna Shevchuk, a Ukrainian journalist with a history of pro-Russian reporting, according to multiple foreign news outlets including One India News who put out this brief report on YouTube. According to One India’s YouTube video report, Kulpa claims that Ukrainian officials laundered up to half of the money sent to Ukraine under the guise of defending Ukrainian freedom, Europe, and American interests from Russian aggression. Allegedly a large portion of those laundered funds was then sent back into the hands of U.S. democrats during the election season using “corrupt networks”, according to the allegations reportedly made by Kulpa. The allegations have begun making the rounds on social media, with the popular account “I Meme Therefore I Am” posting the following: According to former Polish Deputy Minister Piotr Kulpa, Ukrainian authorities have allegedly siphoned off up to half of the U.S. aid money sent to their country and redirected a portion of it back to the Democratic Party through laundering schemes. According to a former Polish deputy minister, Ukraine did not get as much foreign aid as the Biden administration reported, and what it did receive was substantially embezzled. Piotr Kulpa claims Ukrainian authorities misappropriated up to half of the financial aid given to Kiev. The political pundit formerly held many positions in the Polish government, including deputy labor minister in the mid-2000s, and is now a regular contributor to Ukrainian web shows. Kulpa, an outspoken admirer of US President-elect Donald Trump, told Ukrainian journalist Lana Shevchuk on Thursday that “Everyone understands that war-related corruption is linked not only with Ukraine but also the supplier nation.” He accused US aid programs of writing off large sums of money that finance “shady systems under Democratic Party control.” According to Kulpa, the future Trump administration might analyze government finances and discover that “Ukraine got very little” in comparison to publicly declared amounts and that a large chunk of the funds was “stolen…from 30% to 50%, regardless of the nature of the aid,” he divulged. The idea that corruption and money laundering has been taking place in Ukraine is nothing new. For example, in March of 2022, the wife of a former Ukrainian official was searched on her way across the border into Hungary and found to be carrying millions in Euros and American dollars in suitcases. The wife of former Ukrainian MP Ihor Kotvitskyi declared 28 million dollars and 1.3 million euros when entering Hungary. If Kiev were to recover all the embezzled money for the Ukrainian budget, the country would have enough for a year, Kulpa said. He denounced senior Ukrainian officials, whose regular salaries and bonuses he believes are outrageously high. “It’s a spit in the face of every Ukrainian,” the former minister asserted. “To every European and American taxpayer. This system is criminal from start to finish.” Trump and his allies have been highly critical of the amount of assistance that the Biden administration has sent to Kiev. The president-elect has argued that EU nations should assume the burden of propping up Ukraine, while the American government should focus on its own priorities. US concerns about graft in Kiev have been reflected in some government documents, such as a report that Pentagon Inspector General Robert Storch’s office released last week. It said corruption “continues to complicate Ukraine’s efforts to achieve its EU and NATO aspirations.” The reality of Ukrainian aid money corruption is almost a guarantee.  How much of the billions in U.S. tax dollars has been laundered, and allegedly used as kickback to U.S. officials in order to keep the U.S. money spigot open, remains to be seen. This is a developing story, and as noted is based on current information with the acknowledgment that the allegations reportedly made by the former Polish Deputy Minister have not been independently verified. We will bring you more information, and provide clarity to this early information, as it becomes available.

One of the most intriguing and polarizing picks of President Donald Trump’s next administration has been choosing Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to head the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Despite Kennedy’s previous affiliation with the Democratic Party, many on the left oppose his nomination based, at least in part, on his stance regarding vaccines.
