‘SHOCKWAVES’: Trump Announces Musk, Ramaswamy to Lead New Government Efficiency Department

President-elect Donald Trump has tapped entrepreneur Elon Musk and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy to head a new department focused on government efficiency. “I am pleased to announce that the Great Elon Musk, working in conjunction with American Patriot Vivek Ramaswamy, will lead the Department of Government Efficiency (‘DOGE’),” the president-elect wrote in a statement. “It will become, potentially, ‘The Manhattan Project’ of our time,” added Trump. The department “will provide advice and guidance from outside of Government, and will partner with the White House and Office of Management & Budget to drive large scale structural reform,” he explained. The president-elect said DOGE will deliver “a smaller Government, with more efficiency and less bureaucracy,” by July 4, 2026. This will be “the perfect gift to America on the 250th Anniversary of The Declaration of Independence.” Department of Government Efficiency The merch will be ???— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) November 13, 2024 “Threat to democracy? Nope, threat to BUREAUCRACY!!!” Musk posted on X, which he owns, Tuesday night. Trump also announced Tuesday evening that South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, a Republican, is his nominee for secretary of Homeland Security, and Pete Hegseth, a Fox News host and military veteran, is his nominee for secretary of Defense. This is a breaking news story and it will be updated. The post ‘SHOCKWAVES’: Trump Announces Musk, Ramaswamy to Lead New Government Efficiency Department appeared first on The Daily Signal.

Rick Scott is a good man — and the leader Senate Republicans need

As Republicans, our core values are often tested in the crucible of tragedy and adversity. It is in these moments that true leaders emerge, demonstrating through action a steadfast commitment to the principles we hold dear. Senator Rick Scott (R-Fla.) is one such leader. His decisive actions following the Parkland tragedy not only brought about meaningful change but also cemented my deep respect and friendship. He has my enthusiastic support to be the next Senate majority leader.I met Rick Scott after the devastating shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where my 14-year-old daughter Alaina was killed. As Florida’s governor, Scott faced a challenge that would define his legacy. While others offered empty rhetoric, Scott took action. He worked tirelessly to secure the passage of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act, a testament to what Republican leadership can achieve with courage and resolve. His track record speaks volumes, and his leadership is exactly what the Senate needs as we continue the fight to keep America great. Many critics of Scott’s bid for Senate majority leader point to his support for the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Public Safety Act, particularly its inclusion of a “red flag” provision and the restriction on long gun sales to individuals under 21. To those critics, I remind them of the political landscape in 2018. At that time, the Florida Legislature did not have the Republican supermajority it enjoys today. While Republicans controlled both chambers, votes from the opposition were essential to pass any school safety legislation. The stakes were high, with immense pressure from the left to push gun control as the only solution to targeted school attacks. While most Republicans were willing to move forward with legislation, some likely felt the intense public pressure and thought it safer to let the session end and do nothing.Because of Rick Scott’s leadership, he was able to unite a coalition of legislators, law enforcement, educators, mental health professionals, and families of victims. I saw Rick lead amid the chaos, bringing together individuals who had never collaborated before to pass meaningful legislation. The Marjory Stoneman Douglas Public Safety Act implemented significant safety and mental health measures without the extreme infringement on the Second Amendment that many called for. It was a balanced approach in an era when extremes often overshadow practical solutions. Six years later, this legislation has arguably made Florida schools the safest in the nation. Scott’s ability to navigate this contentious debate shows that protecting our children and safeguarding our freedoms are not mutually exclusive goals. To be clear, I oppose two provisions in the legislation that I hope will be changed. Florida’s “red flag” law should be repealed, and I believe that if you’re old enough to serve your country, you’re old enough to purchase any firearm.I have come to know Rick Scott personally, especially during the painful days and weeks after the Parkland atrocity. His genuine concern for and dedication to the victims and their families were evident. Rick reached out, listened, and took to heart the stories of those who had lost loved ones. Our friendship has given me a firsthand view of his empathy, commitment, and unwavering resolve to stand up for what is right. Every time I speak with Senator Scott, he asks about my family by name and has followed their lives for the past six years.Looking ahead, the challenges facing our nation demand the kind of steadfast, experienced leadership that Rick Scott embodies. We need a leader who not only advocates for conservative policies but also understands the mechanics of government needed to enact them. Rick’s record in Florida — from economic policies that spurred job growth and tax cuts to educational reforms — demonstrates his ability to lead with a fiercely conservative vision that aligns with our values. He knows how to move legislation forward and will be crucial in ensuring that the legislative agenda of the incoming Trump administration gets passed. As with the post-Parkland school safety legislation, we have an urgent window of opportunity to secure the Trump agenda. The Senate needs a leader who can get the job done.As Senate majority leader, Rick Scott will push for fiscal responsibility, champion conservative values, and work tirelessly to ensure that America remains a land of opportunity for all its citizens. In times of trial and uncertainty, character and proven leadership matter. Rick Scott has shown both, time and again. In the most painful season of my life, I witnessed up close his compassion, dedication, and effectiveness. I am confident in his ability to lead the Senate with the same vigor and integrity he has shown throughout his career.I’m calling all Republicans to rally behind Rick Scott: a leader not just for today but for a brighter Republican future. His track record speaks volumes, and his leadership is exactly what the Senate needs as we continue the fight to keep America great.

The real reason conservatives are voting against a Social Security bill

The real reason conservatives are voting against a Social Security bill

Congress is voting on a pair of Social Security bills that will address the benefit structure of the program, but only one is favored among hardline conservatives.Congress has the choice between H.R. 82, known as the Social Security Fairness Act, and H.R. 5342, known as the Equal Treatment of Public Servants Act. Both would address the windfall elimination provision and government pension offset, which adjust Social Security benefits for employees based on whether their jobs paid into the system. There is also concern about the potential backlash for moving a bill this consequential through a discharge petition, which deprives congressmen of the opportunity to amend or debate a bill before voting on it. H.R. 82 would get rid of the WEP and GPO altogether while H.R. 5342 would amend them. As a result, some conservatives like Republican Rep. Chip Roy of Texas have objected to H.R. 82 and favored H.R. 5342, citing fiscal concerns.By eliminating both provisions, H.R. 82 would add nearly $200 billion to the federal deficit over the next decade, according to a cost estimate from the Congressional Budget Office. "This bill irresponsibly eliminates Social Security’s WEP and Government Pension Offset, which means some retirees already covered by government pensions could receive an unfair windfall from Social Security at the expense of other retirees," Roy told Blaze News in an exclusive statement. "The Congressional Budget Office estimates H.R. 82 would cost taxpayers a whopping $200 billion and will accelerate Social Security’s insolvency – threatening benefits for every American currently paying into the system and those currently receiving benefits."On the other hand, H.R. 5342 will make a smaller contribution to the national debt, which is now approaching $36 trillion."H.R. 5342 will cost somewhere from [$25-30 billion] over 10 years and will not hasten Social Security's insolvency," a spokesman from Roy's office told Blaze News in an exclusive statement."Many of America’s police, firefighters, teachers, and other public servants have unfairly seen their Social Security benefits reduced because of the poorly crafted WEP, despite many of these individuals paying into Social Security while working other jobs," Roy told Blaze News. "H.R. 5342, which I have co-sponsored since coming to Congress in 2019, would have responsibly addressed the problems stemming from WEP without accelerating Social Security’s insolvency," Roy continued. "It was designed to replace the unfair, slipshod WEP with a new and carefully considered benefit formula to ensure these Americans get the benefits they deserve. At the same time, it would have provided monthly rebates to current beneficiaries to offset the impacts of the WEP."There is also concern about the potential backlash for moving a bill this consequential through a discharge petition, which deprives congressmen of the opportunity to amend or debate a bill before voting on it. "Just imagine if we did this to jam through something like, say, congressional stock trading next Congress," Roy's spokesman told Blaze News. "If we want this program to be there – if we want our country to be there – for future generations, we need to make choices that do right by people with what they have earned, and to do that with a clear-eyed view of our fiscal challenges," Roy told Blaze News in an exclusive statement. "That is why Congress has a duty to responsibly and fairly protect Social Security benefits for all Americans both today and tomorrow. That is what I voted for today."Like Blaze News? Andrew Cuomo blames 'elitist, arrogant, extremist left' for Harris loss: 'You're in a hole, stop digging'

Disgraced Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo explained why he believed the Democrats lost the election and gave a warning to Democrats going ahead to stop the skid. Cuomo made the comments while being interviewed by journalist Mark Halperin on the "2WAY Tonight" show. 'What we did talk about was bizarre to these people! It was not about gender change operations for criminals! That's not where they were at!'"The first thing the Democratic Party has to realize is when you're in a hole, stop digging," Cuomo said. "I think we really have to come to grips with what happened here, and I don't think that happens overnight." He said that some were arguing that the party didn't go left enough, but he disagreed with that estimation and argued against it. "That believe it or not, is going to have to be litigated. And it's shocking to me that anyone could maintain that position after the election. But that is going to have to be sorted through. Because you're gonna have the extreme left saying the problem was that we were not left enough. As bizarre as that appears to be," said Cuomo. "What happened is, in this election people had two bad choices," he continued. "And President Trump was the better of two bad choices." He went to say that Democrats were "disconnected" from "reality" because of their hatred for Trump. "We were so blinded by our hate for Trump and assume that everybody was gonna see that we were right and that he was bad and we were so consumed with making the negative on Trump, we never made the positive case for the Democratic party. And what the Democrats would do for you," Cuomo continued. "Government is about doing for you. I also don't think it was clear what the Biden administration had done for you. You weren't convinced that that administration worked for you so there was a double burden on Harris to make the case we were working for you, we did actually accomplish something, and we have a plan for your future. We didn't do that!" he added. "And what we did talk about was bizarre to these people! It was not about gender change operations for criminals! That's not where they were at!" Cuomo concluded. "And we had this elitist arrogant extremist left that dictated an agenda that predominated the campaign, and i think that was the root cause of what happened." Cuomo stepped down from his governorship in 2021 after numerous accusations of sexual harassment. His interlocutor, Halperin, was similarly fired from SNBC in 2017 after several accusations of sexual harassment. Like Blaze News?
