On today's Morning Joe, NBC reporter Peter Alexander described the mood at a Kamala donor party in DC last night as being like "a funeral." And Mika Brzezinski certainly dressed for the occasion today, draped, as you see, in all black. Claire McCaskill was near tears as she acknowledged that Trump understood the electorate better than Dems: that "fear and anger" work, and that our "better angels" have fled. Al Sharpton predictably blamed racial and gender,"bias" and "misogyny" among black and Hispanic men for Kamala's poor showing with them. Joe Scarborough, for the moment, put aside his Kamala-toady persona and told things like they are, speaking of Dems being "wiped out," and Trump scoring an incredible red wave equalling anything going back to Reagan's 1984 landslide, even winning the popular vote for only the second time by any Republican in 36 years. We're sure Scarborough will revert to Dem sycophant form in short order, but it was notable to hear him speak frankly for the first time in ages. He's got a lot of 'splaining to do for all his past distorting partisanship, but we'll leave that for another time. Here's the transcript. MSNBC Morning Joe 11/6/24 6:02 am ET PETER ALEXANDER: The conversations I've been having with people in and around the campaign, they felt like they really had the trajectory on their side in the course of the last several days. A week ago they said things seemed pretty tight, but now, yesterday, they felt pretty optimistic going into the night.  That quickly evaporated as the returns came in. One return after another, one state after another falling into Donald Trump's category. You could really just see the emotion in the eyes. These blank stares, these glum looks. Some people embracing one another and appearing to share some prayers at the time. To give you a sense of sort of the feel there, there was a party for donors in Washington, D.C., Harris donors, it was described to us by a Democrat in attendance as being like a funeral.  During, as the returns came in last night at Howard University, they ultimately muted the screen and turned music on to try to cheer folks up there. . . .  JOE SCARBOROUGH: I came onto the set and Willie said, hey, by the way, we were talking about the historic nature of this sweep, and Willie said, you know, he only lost Illinois by four points! WILLIE GEIST: Four points. New Jersey -- SCARBOROUGH: New Jersey by five! You talk about -- we had talked about a red wave two years ago that never materialized. This is -- I got to say, this is the biggest red wave I've seen since Ronald Reagan's 49-state victory in 1984. It seems every Republican across the country improved. . . .  GEIST: We'll break down some of these numbers. The gender gap wasn't nearly as wide as the Harris campaignn eeded it to be, and Latino men came out in force for Donald Trump. SCARBOROUGH: Right. What a huge difference that made. And you know, really, that's just part of the stunning outcome. I mean, America first of all, is far more to the right than any time in our lifetimes, even going back to the Reagan years. And Donald Trump won in dominating fashion. But he did that along with other Republican candidates in the Senate races and the House races. They're likely to dominate all branches of government for the next several years. Donald Trump not only broke out through that sort of hard ceiling of 47%, 48%. Think about this: he became only the second Republican to win a majority of the popular vote since 1988, in 36 years! . . .  MIKA BRZEZINSKI: Claire McCaskill: your thoughts this morning. CLAIRE MCCASKILL: Well, first, we have to acknowledge that Donald Trump knows our country better than we do. I think he figured out that anger and, frankly [dejectedly bows head] fear, were way more powerful than appealing to people's better angels. That anger and fear were going to work in this election. Whether you're afraid of immigrants, or afraid of people who are trans, he figured that out.  And I think we all thought everyone's better angels would prevail. Turns out, the better angels went on vacation when Donald Trump came down the escalator, and they haven't returned. . . .  GEIST: Rev, good morning. I know you were with the Harris campaign last night. Obviously, as the night went on, things became more and more grim for them, ending with shock, probably, this morning as this race was called for Donald Trump. AL SHARPTON: No it -- probably shock would be the word for many at the Howard University party, and then disbelief  . . .  I think that we also have to deal with the issue of race and gender. There was a lot race gender bias in this, there was a lot of race bias in this, and I think that we thought a lot of voters were more progressive in those areas than they were. When you have the Dobbs decision, and you see this kind of vote anyway with the person that put the three Justices on the Supreme Court, you have to ask yourself -- are we fooling ourselves saying that Americans are further down the road toward dealing with gender bias and race bias than we thought? . . .  SCARBOROUGH: Rev, let's talk about, you talk about gender and race. Let's talk about race. Donald Trump fared very well with Hispanic voters, especially Hispanic men. The numbers are coming, in still a little early. But I think he did better with black men than was expected in the past. And what do you think pushed that? Especially with Hispanic voters going for Donald Trump as much as they did, because that made a big difference. SHARPTON: I think that a lot of it, he was able to sell a lot of Hispanic voters that immigration was a threat to them. That some of the people coming across the border was a threat to them. I think that we've got to be honest: among Hispanic men and black men, there's a lot of misogyny. And I think we've got to deal with the reality that he appealed to this whole false macho thing, that some black men and some Latino men went for.

Amazon pulled Brian Williams out of media exile on Tuesday to helm their election night coverage and when it became clear that Donald Trump would win, he proved not much has changed since his MSNBC days. Williams must have spent his exile in cave because he claimed that Republicans win because they have become “stone cold killers,” while Democrats are just “student council presidents” who are recycling nerds and if Democrats want to win again, this needs to change. Fellow former MSNBC-er Abby Huntsman explained what Democrats are going to do next, “You always have a full autopsy, Brian, whenever you figure out if you lose it, what did we do wrong?”     Williams concurred, “The only thing we knew for certain heading into tonight was the party on the losing end would have to strip down, do an autopsy, do an assessment, look at their bench. Look at what they did wrong.” Having his own idea on what that autopsy should say, Williams continued, “I've always said something culturally which is simplistic, flip, and half-comical, but half-serious, and that is constitutionally, culturally, Democrats tend to be former student council presidents, earnest recycling enthusiasts, Republicans in the modern era in politics have been stone cold killers and that's just it, and I think that'll be interesting to see who the killer Dems are because this is the era of hardball.” Seriously? Democrats impeached Trump twice, filed tens of criminal charges against him, their nominee for president called him a fascist, they claimed women will die if Trump wins, encouraged them to lie to their husbands, played the race card non-stop, and warned that democracy itself was on the ballot while some of them tried to kick Trump off the ballot. If that is the lesson Democrats learn from their autopsy, they can expect to be writing more of them in the near future. CNN anchor Jake Tapper could not hide his astonishment when he learned that Vice President Kamala Harris badly underperformed compared to President Joe Biden four years ago. Around 2 a.m. Wednesday morning — after Donald Trump had already won Pennsylvania and sealed his path to victory — Tapper sought to better understand why Harris lost, asking CNN chief national correspondent John King if Harris was overperforming in any areas of the country compared to Biden in 2020. Harris' dismal performance is raising an ironic question: Would Biden have been more competitive than Harris? King then showed Tapper hard data showing that Harris was not outperforming Biden statewide in any state. "Holy smokes!" Tapper reacted, according to a clip of their exchange. "Literally nothing?!" "Literally nothing," King confirmed. Next, King showed Tapper counties where Harris had overperformed by 3% or more compared to Biden in 2020. At the time, only 58 counties in the entire country could be included in that tally. Harris' dismal performance is raising an ironic question: Would Biden have been more competitive than Harris? For their part, Tapper and King believe he would not have been. "I don't want to be disrespectful to the president of the United States," King began. "The vice president of the United States looks like she's about to lose the presidential election. She was campaigning vigorously from the second she got the nomination until the votes counted today. Is there any evidence on the table that the president of the United States could do half of what she did?" "No," Tapper responded. "A third of what she did?" King added. "No," Tapper affirmed. President Donald Trump promised to usher in the "golden age of America" in his victory speech early Wednesday morning. At the open of trading hours later, the Dow gained over 1,320 points (in excess of 3%) while the S&P 500 index increased by 1.9% and the Nasdaq rose by 2.2%. CNN indicated that this is the first time the Dow has jumped over 1,000 points in a single day since November 2022.While some analysts suspect the decisiveness of the win may have put some investors at ease, others figure Trump's policy proposals — especially those pertaining to deregulation and taxes — have investors excited.Michael Block, COO at AgentSmyth, told CNN, "There is this huge perception of [a] business friendly, tax-friendly regime coming into place, especially with them winning the Senate."'Business animal spirits could be rekindled once again.'Republicans have secured a majority in the U.S. Senate and are poised to keep the House."Assuming the House goes Republican, we expect that a Red Sweep outcome will play out in a similar fashion to the 2016 playbook but to a lesser degree given a more mature economic backdrop and higher equity valuations," Jeff Schulze at ClearBridge Investments told Bloomberg. "Business animal spirits could be rekindled once again from Trump's pro-business approach."As it became clear Trump was going to win in a landslide, the price of Bitcoin rocketed from south of $70,000 to over $75,000 overnight, zigzagging around $74,400 Wednesday morning. This jump was energized by Trump's embrace of crypto on the campaign trail. In July, Trump told crypto boosters at a Bitcoin conference in Tennessee that he would make the U.S. the "crypto capital of the planet."Not only did the U.S. dollar rise against the euro, the peso, the Japanese yen, and the Chinese yuan in response to Trump's landslide win — the biggest rise since March 2020 — the New York Times indicated that yields on U.S. government bonds also climbed sharply. Treasury 10-year yields reportedly advanced 18 basis points to 4.45%.While the American market was ostensibly made great again, European stocks took a tumble Wednesday afternoon. Barstool Sports owner Dave Portnoy said Vice President Kamala Harris drove away independent voters by running a campaign based on moral superiority and name-calling.Portnoy, who announced in September that he would be voting for Donald Trump, demolished Democrat Party brass for running the "worst" campaign he's ever seen."Independents or moderates ... the Democrats gave us no choice. That was the worst campaign, and the pure arrogance and moral superiority have driven people away."Portnoy noted that the strategy of saying Trump is a threat to democracy only resulted in pushing people to his side."He didn't just win, he won for fun. He won the electoral, he won the popular vote, he won [by] more votes than last time," Portnoy explained. 'You are alienating all these middle-ground people.'Furthermore, the Barstool boss pointed to the name-calling used by Democrats and their supporters, typically in the final weeks of the campaign where Trump rallies were likened to Nazi rallies."If you say you're voting for Trump, suddenly it's 'Nazi, you're Hitler, you're garbage.' Enough!"Portnoy added, "You are alienating all these middle-ground people.""He won clear, he won decisive, so when you call us that and you say that, you're calling the majority of the country racist, Nazi, Hitler."For Harris' part, Portnoy said in his social media video that there was an obvious call for change that the vice president wasn't up to, and Harris couldn't articulate any way she was different from President Joe Biden.The Trump campaign continuously highlighted an appearance by Harris on "The View," where she stated, "There is not a thing that comes to mind," in regard to what she would do differently from Biden.Portnoy added that change was sorely needed to solve issues like inflation, border policy, and conflicts in the Middle East, which he said Harris did not address.Portnoy's gripes extended to the Democratic Party as a whole, which he felt was gaslighting him by running a candidate who "can't answer any questions" and "didn't get any votes" when she ran for president."It's garbage," Portnoy stated."Democrats were the one saying Joe Biden was mentally fit for two years when he was a vegetable. He couldn't make it off stage after a speech, and the Democrats would lie to our face."Portnoy ended his video by saying he voted for Trump because he felt he "had no choice."The sports personality has remained consistent leading up to the election, voicing that he was worried that if Harris was elected, states like California and New York would become the norm for the rest of the country in terms of their decay."I wouldn't have voted for [Trump] in the Republican primaries," he revealed but said that what Democrats have done is "far worse."Like Blaze News?
