From Trailer Park to US Senate: Republican Jim Banks Wins Indiana Seat

Republican Rep. Jim Banks won the open Indiana Senate seat, beating Democrat Valerie McCray, a clinical psychologist, according to Fox News and The Associated Press. “Only in America can a kid like me, who grew up in a trailer park in Columbia City and was the first in my family to go to college, go on to become a United States senator,” Banks said in a statement shared with The Daily Signal. “As your next senator, I will fight every day to protect that American dream for the next generation.” Banks currently represents northeastern Indiana’s 3rd Congressional District. He decided to forgo another House term to run for the Senate seat vacated by Republican Sen. Mike Braun, who is running for governor. Banks is a supporter of former President Donald Trump. He has been outspoken on “culture war” issues, such as abortion and transgenderism. Banks demanded on Sept. 19 that the individual responsible for the military training that portrayed pro-life Americans as terrorists be held accountable. The Indiana lawmaker has addressed training sessions given to service members on the North Carolina military base Fort Liberty from 2017 to a few months ago that characterized pro-life organizations as “terrorist groups.” “The training labeled several prominent and well-respected pro-life groups, that count millions of everyday Americans as members, as violent extremists,” Banks said disapprovingly in the opening statement of a hearing. As the chairman of the Anti-Woke Caucus, he sent a letter on July 30 calling on Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra to clarify the stance of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’ administration regarding irreversible gender-transition surgeries for kids.  “We need true conservative fighters in Washington who are not afraid to cut reckless spending and fight to secure our border and end the Democrats’ border crisis,” Banks’ statement says. “I got in this race to champion working Hoosier families and put Indiana first, and that’s what I plan to do on Day One in the United States Senate.” “I am grateful for the support of my family and the support I’ve had from Hoosiers across the state. I owe this victory to all who contributed to it,” he continued. The post From Trailer Park to US Senate: Republican Jim Banks Wins Indiana Seat appeared first on The Daily Signal.

Amid Lawsuit Over Dead Names on Voter Rolls, Here’s What Happens When Election Watchdog Meets Michigan’s Secretary of State

Election lawyer J. Christian Adams said he had a brief encounter on Election Day with Michigan’s Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, a Democrat, who his organization has sued over voter roll maintenance regarding the names of more than 25,000 dead people.   Adams is president of the Public Interest Legal Foundation, an election integrity watchdog group.  “She’s doing a tour of the state with a Washington Post reporter, which I’m sure is a team effort,” Adams told The Daily Signal in a phone interview on Hamtramck, Michigan. The Public Interest Legal Foundation sued Michigan over Benson’s refusal to remove the names of 26,000 dead people from voter registration lists. Of those, almost 4,000 had been dead for over two decades; 17,479 were dead for more than a decade; 23,663 had been dead for at least five years.  The encounter between the two was friendly, Adams said.  “She is no slouch. She has class even if she is not a good secretary of state,” Adams continued.  We ran into @MichSoS @JocelynBenson as we were poll-watching in Hamtramck, MI. Perhaps she was looking for one of the 25,000 deceased registrants on the state’s voter roll? More likely it was to dance at the polls to celebrate an utterly perfectly run election as the… https://t.co/wiVaxj9QBS— PublicInterestLegal (@PILFoundation) November 5, 2024 Adams said he did not bring up the lawsuit or the names of the deceased on voter rolls.   Neither Benson’s office or Washington Post immediately responded to emails for comment. The legal foundation sent a team election lawyers to Michigan to observe that local election officials in the state comply with federal and state election laws.  The foundation’s poll observers will memorialize compliance with election laws, Adams said. When the federal lawsuit over the voter rolls was first filed in late 2021, Jake Rollow, the office’s chief of external affairs, told The Daily Signal in an email: “Michigan maintains its voter registration list in accordance with all state and federal laws, including provisions for deceased voters. We have not yet seen such a lawsuit and cannot comment.” The post Amid Lawsuit Over Dead Names on Voter Rolls, Here’s What Happens When Election Watchdog Meets Michigan’s Secretary of State appeared first on The Daily Signal.

CNN Panel Erupts Went Republican Notes Kamala Underwater in Exit Poll

For all intents and purposes Vice President Harris was the incumbent in 2024’s presidential election. So when CNN’s Tuesday night exit polling showed 72 percent of voters thought the country was on the wrong track, it wasn’t a good sign. And when Republican commentator David Urban pointed out that fact to the largely anti-Trump panel, they erupted in outrage and jumped down this throat. “Listen, 72 percent of Americans think we're on the wrong track? That's devastating, devastating for this campaign. Devastating,” Urban said. “Trump's approval rating going into this election is the highest it's been, retrospectively, Americans think more favorably of him today than they ever did during his entire presidency.” Liberal commentator and former Obama adviser David Axelrod and faux conservative Alyssa Farah Griffin from The View started shouting over Urban: AXELROD: Then why is the race tied, Dave?! URBAN: Dave, I don't -- AXELROD: Explain why the race is tied! URBAN: I can't explain it. But these numbers and the economy -- AXELROD: The race is tied -- URBAN: No, no. You're talking about the economy. Right? People – It's nice to worry about the democracy, but if you can't pay for your food -- ALYSSA FARAH GRIFFIN: Oh, I totally agree. [Crosstalk] URBAN: - wrong track - AXELROD: I agree with that. I agree with that. And that's why she's spent so much time talking about it. FARAH GRIFFIN: She closed talking about the economy, not even saying his name. He was talking about Van Jones, among other things.     "Listen, I'm wrapping myself in this poll. Look at this. I’m just going to hold on to this tightly right now. This is great news for the Trump campaign! This is great news for the Trump campaign!” Urban mocked them. “We’ll see what you're wrapping yourself with it at the end of the night,” Axelrod huffed in response. Far-left activist Van Jones quipped that “This is what happens when they give us caffeine at the break.” After some laughs, Jones went on to suggest that a formidable portion of those who said the country was on the wrong track were talking about former President Trump: Listen, I do see it differently than you do. People are angry and people are dissatisfied, in large part because Donald Trump has created an environment that is so toxic for people. You have people who are literally afraid of whatever happens in this election. There are people who are afraid that if he wins, he's going to do bad stuff to them. And they’re afraid if he loses, his supporters might hurt them. “So, people's dissatisfaction with the status quo includes dissatisfaction and anger at Donald Trump,” he said. Urban countered by noting that many people can’t afford to fix their cars. “That right track/wrong track is so bad, because when the check engine comes on in their car, they get pissed off, because they can't pay for it. That's why they're dissatisfied, that’s why they’re angry,” he argued. The transcript is below. It’s not even 6 yet. {laughter] JONES: This is what happens when they give us caffeine at the break. COOPER: You guys are coming in hot! [Crosstalk] JONES: Listen, I do see it differently than you do. You have people who are literally afraid of whatever happens in this election. There are people who are afraid that if he wins, he's going to do bad stuff to them. And they’re afraid if he loses, his supporters might hurt them. That is a part of this overall – So, people's dissatisfaction with the status quo includes dissatisfaction and anger at Donald Trump. URBAN: I think. Listen, Van. You said this before. You said this, so I’m going to steal your own line. JONES: Please do. URBAN: People are dissatisfied. That right track/wrong track is so bad, because when the check engine comes on in their car, they get pissed off, because they can't pay for it. That's why they're dissatisfied, that’s why they’re angry. [Crosstalk] JONES: Two different things could be true. [Crosstalk] AXELROD: Can I just make a point about this? I think the brilliance of the way Harris finished this campaign is, she attached Trump's character issues. The fact that he's absorbed with himself, focused on vengeance, and she really asked the question, who's going to wake up every day trying to address the problems you care about? That guy or me? And I think she's made some progress doing it. (…)

WATCH: Dr. Phil reacts to Rogan and JD Vance’s conversation about declining health in America

Joe Rogan’s interview with JD Vance continues to rack up views. It’s raw, honest, and real — everything that the Kamala Harris campaign is not. One subject the duo covered in their over three-hour interview was the left’s hypocritical response to the looming issue of Americans’ declining health. Dave Rubin and Dr. Phil react to the clip where JD Vance explains his not-at-all weird viewpoint on the importance of what RFK Jr. is doing for the Trump campaign. “I’ve seen, like, people on the left that are trying to dismiss a lot of the things that he says about additives in food, about atrazine, fluoride in the water. All these different things because now they're connecting not having toxins in your food with a right-wing idea.""It's crazy," JD Vance agreed. "It's mind-blowing.""It's so bananas!" Rogan exclaimed. “Even fitness – they’re connecting fitness with a right-wing idea,” he added. “One of my sort of core political beliefs is that our politics is focused on fake s**t and distractions to distract us from the real stuff,” said Vance. “It's interesting that the environmental movement in America, the only thing that it talks about is the carbon footprint and it never talks about like why do we have the highest rates of obesity in the world right now? Why is it that American kids spend less time outdoors in nature than they ever have in the history of our 250 years civilization?” Vance asked. Vance then recalled an incident in his native state of Ohio where a chemical explosion put all kinds of toxins and pollutants into the water. “The environmental movement almost could not have cared less about a chemical explosion in rural Ohio that was potentially poisoning thousands of people, but they were really, really concerned about the carbon footprint of those same people,” he told Rogan, “I’m sick of the distraction. I think we should focus on the real stuff.” Dr. Phil, who’s spoken with RFK Jr. both on and off camera, thinks highly of him. “We truly do have the ability to change the health of America, and we can do it in a generation because the actual ingredients in the food that we're eating research tells us very strongly that this changed back in the late '80s and early '90s, and chronic diseases in children just skyrocketed to the point that we're now spending more money on managing chronic disease than I think our defense budget.” To hear more of the conversation, watch the clip above. 5 voting locations in Georgia receive bomb threats, voting suspended

There were bomb threats made at five voting locations in Georgia, according to local authorities. Because of the bomb threats, voting was suspended. The official website of DeKalb County released a statement regarding the seven bomb threats, including seven made in five voting precincts on Election Day. County officials said the suspension of voting was a 'precautionary measure for the safety of voters and poll workers.'DeKalb County officials listed the following precincts as having received bomb threats: New Bethel AME Church, 8350 Rockbridge Road, LithoniaNew Life Community Center, 3592 Flat Shoals Road, DecaturNorth DeKalb Senior Center, 3393 Malone Drive, ChambleeReid H. Cofer Library, 5234 Lavista Road, TuckerWesley Chapel Library, 2861 Wesley Chapel Road, DecaturCounty officials noted that two other locations received bomb threats: the Salem Panola Library at 5137 Salem Road in Lithonia and the Old Sam's Club in Stonecrest — which is not an active polling location. The DeKalb County Police Department conducted bomb sweeps at the locations. Voting was suspended at the locations targeted by the multiple bomb threats. “Rest assured that we are working quickly to ensure every voter will have an opportunity to cast their ballot despite these bomb threats,” said DeKalb Voter Registration and Elections Executive Director Keisha Smith. “Out of an abundance of caution, we are suspending voting at these polling locations until we have clearance from DeKalb Police to reopen the facilities.”DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond added, "Every asset that we have will be deployed to ensure that every citizen who wants to vote will be given that opportunity and every vote cast will be counted."County officials said the suspension of voting was a "precautionary measure for the safety of voters and poll workers."DeKalb County officials stated, "Once each location is cleared, voters will be able to re-enter the facility and cast their ballots."County officials noted, "The DeKalb County Law Department is in the process of seeking an emergency order extending the voting times at the affected polling locations."On Tuesday, the FBI said there had been fake "Russian bomb threats" made to polling places in the swing states of Georgia, Michigan, and Wisconsin."The FBI is aware of bomb threats to polling locations in several states, many of which appear to originate from Russian email domains," the FBI said in a press release, according to the Daily Mail. The FBI noted that none of the threats have been "determined to be credible thus far."Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said earlier on Tuesday, "Georgia is not going to be intimidated. Russia just decided they picked on the wrong Georgia. They need to pick on the other one in the Black Sea because we’re no going to be intimidated, but we’re just excited about where we are right now."Like Blaze News? West Virginia Senate seat flips red as Joe Machin retires

Republican Gov. Jim Justice of West Virginia defeated Democratic challenger Glenn Elliott Tuesday in the race to replace retiring Democratic turned independent U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin. Although the seat was previously held by a Democrat, Republicans easily flipped the seat red, giving the GOP an edge to regain the Senate majority. Manchin first won the seat as a Democrat in 2010 and has served in the Senate ever since. Manchin later switched his party affiliation from Democrat to independent in May of this year. "I have never seen America through a partisan lens," Manchin said in a statement. "However, since becoming a United States Senator in 2010, I have seen both the Democrat and Republican parties leave West Virginia and our country behind for partisan extremism while jeopardizing our democracy."Today, our national politics are broken, and neither party is willing to compromise to find common ground," Manchin continued. "To stay true to myself and remain committed to put country before party, I have decided to register as an independent with no party affiliation and continue to fight for America's sensible majority. Although Justice's predecessor was previously a Democrat, West Virginia was projected to be an overwhelming win for Republicans leading up to the election.Like Blaze News?
